We are excited to have our blog 聽up and running and looking forward to sharing our views and experiences pertaining to the Language Service Industry.
聽mini传媒 is a boutique language agency founded on a passion for languages and the desire to help people communicate. 聽We are a family run company founded in 1995 by Ester Ewing. 聽Prior to starting mini传媒, Ester was a freelance Spanish interpreter working in the courts throughout NJ. 聽She soon realized that many, many, people in our community needed the valuable services that interpreters provide and so she set out on her journey to establish her own language agency. 聽Early in 2013 Ester鈥檚 daughter (that鈥檚 me!) joined the company as the Director of Business Development. 聽Together, along with our staff and great team of linguists, we are bringing high quality interpreting and translation services to the region鈥檚 top companies.
Within this blog we will be sharing our experiences as a Language Service Provider (LSP) and information about other cultures and languages. 聽Our objectives here are simple: 聽
#1. To create a forum that will educate and help interpreters and translators excel in the industry.
The information here is intended for linguists new to the industry as well as seasoned veterans. We鈥檒l be posting articles such as: What every interpreter needs to know听补苍诲 What makes a solid Translator?. 聽We have a wealth of knowledge about interpreting and translating and we would love to pass it on to others.
#2: 聽To help our consumers (purchasers of language services) navigate the language industry.
10-15 years ago most companies didn鈥檛 have the need for interpreters or translators, but that is not the case today. 聽One of our roles as a Language Services Provider is to help our clients navigate through the uncharted waters of the language industry. 聽For example we鈥檇 like to help our consumers understand the difference between an interpreter and a translator (yes – there鈥檚 a huge difference!).
#3: To educate and inspire anyone who is interested in learning about foreign languages and cultures.
We are constantly learning about new languages and new cultures. 聽Did you know that there are up to 7,000 different languages worldwide? 聽Or did you know that Mandarin Chinese is the world鈥檚 most spoken language? 聽(According to UNESCO (The United Nations鈥� Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). 聽In the Language Industry we interact with people from other cultures on a daily basis. 聽Most of our linguists are from abroad and the clients they interpret for are also from overseas. 聽These interactions give us (and now you) a glimpse into other societies and cultures.
#4. To keep our interpreters, translators, employees and clients up to date on what’s happening here at mini传媒.
聽We wouldn’t have made it this far without our excellent team of linguist and wonderful clients. 聽 We’d like to keep you informed about news and events going on here at mini传媒.
With the advancement of the Internet and social media, cross-cultural communication is growing. 聽International barriers are coming down and without too many obstacles companies are doing business in foreign countries. Additionally, immigration is on the rise, we truly live in a melting-pot. 聽聽For these reasons, among others, the language industry is roaring and thus we would like to share our journey with you. 聽We hope you check back often and please provide your input as we鈥檇 love to read your thoughts on our topics.
